Mother/Neighbor/Wife/Social Worker/Advocate/Student/Living Experience/Daughter

I work and hope to achieve humility as I strive to support the people, animals, and environment of Kamloops, B.C.

Who am I ?

I am a mother and wife, as well as a daughter and sister. I have had lived experience of substance dependency and I use and believe in harm reduction.

I am a social worker registered with the B.C. College of Social Workers. I have worked in social work for twenty-six years. In my career, I have worked as a substance counselor, support worker, and program coordinator. I am fortunate to currently work with the amazing doctors and professionals at the Kamloops Addiction Clinic.

In 2022, devastated by the impact of the toxic drug crisis upon the community I love, I was fortunate to begin my journey at Thompson Rivers University in the Master's of Human Rights and Social Justice program. I have recently completed the requirements for my degree, and I will convocate this October.

During this time, I was fortunate to partner with Lana Fine and other concerned neighbors, and we built The Same Sky Collective, a society devoted to advocating for social justice. Our storefront has morphed into an art studio where everyone is welcome, and we remain nonjudgmental and anti-stigmatizing. Within our storefront at 417 Tranquill, we provide clothing, snacks, harm reduction supplies, and work to keep disenfranchised neighbors alive. Harm reduction can save lives, and I will always work to help people stay alive. We have found that the studio has become a place of connection where our philosophy is, " Art: a catalyst to change".

My motivation to run for office lies in a philosophy of Integrity through action. I believe that we are fortunate enough to live in a prosperous and resource-rich country and city where all of our neighbors should be afforded the necessities of life and liberty, and further the ability to attain an education to pursue meaningful vocation and avocation. Therefore, I plan to advocate for and fight for all people in our city to obtain these necessities.
